How It Works
The schematics below demonstrate a platform which fetches Intellectual Property Assets (IPA) from the Story Protocol SDK. There are 3 core functionalities within the IPSwap platform.
I. Fanbases, creators, and businesses are able to track and participate in the popularity of crossovers for licensing to entities.
In one example, fans would like to see a Superman vs. Thor movie produced. If Marvel Studios, DC Studios, the fanbase, or even a collective of Hollywood producers would create a proposal on IPSwap. A leaderboard and voting system on IPSwap would show the appetite and demand through a weighted voting system using a governance mechanism. The IPA would reside in the Story Protocol system and if any entity decides the price is right they would propose a price for derivative or attribution licenses in respect to Television, Movies, Books, Merchandising and everything else.
IPSwap Testnet Schematics
At a technical level user voting and proposals would work using web3 technology. A message would be signed using the user wallet to vote on proposals. Final IPA licensing would involve a Transaction with the user wallet.
At the end of the roadmap and launch of the mainnet version of IPSwap, each IP asset would be registered as an NFT (ERC-721) on Story Protocol (a rich licensing platform), and the same goes for licenses issued. The protocol was designed for maximum composability so each IP organization can access the broader web3 ecosystem, including all the DeFi services already servicing NFT projects.
IPSwap aims to collateralized loans backed by NFT collectibles or licenses with intrinsic value (upfront payment) or royalty payment expectations, fractionalized ownership of super limited NFT collectibles from popular IP franchises, or crowdfunding/capital formation solutions. The attractiveness here is the duality of IPA's as web3 native and real-world assets.
